The evils of margin have caught up with me.

I got a margin call today. A bigger margin call then I thought would happen even assuming the stock fell down this low. I had to clear up more margin then just enough to take way the call. Fortunately my shares in my 401K are untouched (well not really I only have 80% of the value that my account had at the begining of the year despite the fact that I am adding 16% of every paycheck into the account), but I had to sell almost all my shares. In my taxable account I only have 25 shares, a few almost worthless January options and 2 orders Jan 03 call LEAPS with a strike price of 25. I keep thinking we can't go any lower and then we do. Its just my luck/stupidity to start investing heavily and with lots of leverage right as one of the best bull markets in history turns into a share bear market.

I understand how Gateway's warning is a good fundamental reason to worry about AMD, but the moves on other warnings and down grades would seem to have all ready accounted for risk to AMD's business. Its not like AMD has warned. I suppose things can get just as irrational to the down side in a bear market as they can to the upside in a bull market.
At least its not like I am going to go bankrupt or lose my house but there goes a year of scraping together every dollar I can find just to see it all go up in smoke. Who knows what the bottom will be. NASDAQ 2,000? AMD in single digits? I don't think we will se either but I am not going to make any leveraged bets that we won't.
