I have carried four union cards in my life. I represent a very different point of view than the vast majority on this board ... many of whom are too elite or too lazy to get their hands dirty in honest work. I was ridiculed when I predicted that my union brothers and sisters would bring home the bacon on Nov. 7, and they certainly did in Michigan and Pennsylvania. In my three decades-plus of clocking in and bringing home a paycheck on Friday night, I have never once asked a thing from government other than a fair shake. I have bargained hard and long for fair union contracts on three separate occasions. I have seen the greed of Big Business first-hand when I "just said no" to the Big Pension Grab of '97. In the end, we prevailed. Now, as I approach the twilight of my life, I can look back and say I have done everything I could to give the common working man and common working woman an even playing field.
By whose authority do I speak? By the authority of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech. Who am I? I am a Roosevelt Democrat ... the guy who applauded after Woody Guthrie sang of human dignity in the CCC camps of the '30s.

I could give a rat's rear end whether I meet your standard of acceptability.
