Contest thru November:

Miljenko 120%
McFarland 94%
TexasDude 53%
Lokness 51%

others 30%, 22%, 17%, 4%, -13%

I've accounted for splits, pretty sure I got them all. I still have the entries in quote.Yahoo--which is not a good portfolio tracker, and I could be off on the numbers, but I intended this to be very informal/so what.

If I do something like this again for 2001 I'll use fool.com and MSN Moneycentral to do a better job of tracking.

The last time I checked Dude and I were neck and neck--
clearly the market is getting rather volatile of late.

I should point out for anybody stumbling on this thread for the first time that I think it is very unlikely that anybody has a real-world portfolio of biotechs that looks anything like the initial entries for the contest. Clearly buy and hold was not the way to play biotech this year. My gain this year is something like 500%, down a lot from the March top, but up substantially from the Spring correction low. Just in the last two months about ten percent of my prize has gone away, maybe not so bad compared to many--as I was cushioned by cash and a maybe I juggled a few of those falling knives okay. Fwiw, I went half cash somewhere around September, and have more or less stayed in a lot of cash since then--much too chicken to do much bargain hunting).

Personally, I've come a long way since my Ariad blues of a year ago, up something like 17x, but probably less confidant than ever that I can pick a hot stock. Hope all is well with everybody. I've not been reading many of the posts on SI--I deleted most of the threads I'd bookmarked, and peoplemarks. If we see a market bottom, and it happens to occur about the time my first few CDs mature I suppose there is a chance I'll be back cluttering up all the threads. For now, too squeamish to do any buying, a little trading for fun, but nothing significant.

Happy Holidays,
Mike
