I suppose this has been said many times, and more eloquently than I'm capable of, but I would like to suggest two points for your consideration ...

1) There is nothing easier than taking pot-shots at decision makers when you are not responsible for the decisions they must make. Running a business is a complex, difficult task, and there is usually an ample supply of those who think they could do it better.

2) The most fundamental element of investment analysis is an evaluation of corporate management. It is a good idea to put your money in companies which have management you admire. To do otherwise is to court neverending unhappiness.

These are tough times. Those who took huge profits early in the year must lessen their tax bite. One way to do that is by selling to establish losses. Needless to say, the effect further depresses issues which are already depressed. One may castigate oneself for lacking the foresight to anticipate this, but railing against it has more effect on blood-pressure than it does on stock price.
