an uneeded 3rd party (MM) will not jump ahead of my order by a penny or whatever.

By the way, what did you mean by this? Are you suggesting that the market(s) do not need the capital committment of dealers? Or that if a dealer bids over your ECN-posted quote (say, $50 as high bid) by a penny (to $50.01), or a teeny (to $50.0625), or an eighth (to $50.125), that there is something wrong or unethical in doing so?

Both? Neither?
