Right. Burton-Hyde-Army-DeLay-Lott-Watts are all people of real substance. The REAL misfit on Nov. 7 was John Ashcroft, the two-term GOP senator from Missouri. He ran against no one and still lost.

I can see a couple years down the road when his grandkid asks him, "Grandpa, who beat you in '00?"

Ashcroft: "Uhh, uhhh, uhhh, uhhh ..."
