I was taken by surprise by Gateway -- I don't like that.

Gateway is one of the few PC makers that hadn't already reduced their outlook, mostly I think that they are just coming into line with the others.

Despite a very recent dip, energy prices ...

The energy situation reminds me of Russian roulette, there are so many different ways this could get us, all of the chambers have come up empty so far, but we just keep on clickin' that trigger.

That moron AG...

...looks like he's overdone it. Still a few doses of interest rate poison working its way through the system when more slowdown is the last thing required because of the "poverty effect" which people are going to be talking about next year.

There are margin calls and tax loss selling ...

What worries me most...is that a whole bunch of vicious cycles are starting to spin up...still a lot of margin in this market...falling market will drag down consumer confidence, Christmas sales and hence fourth quarter earnings...and tax loss selling is looking like a very good idea. Not to mention a slowdown in corporate investment (eg IT spending) may mean that the fat lady (CSCO) is about to sing.

If we don't bottom here then I think the economy will go into recession and NAS will go a lot lower. I think I'll raise some cash while I can still stick the government with some of the loss.

LOL that probably means a bottom is near, but why take the risk of going over Niagra Falls?
