Hi Bob.
I really don't know how they will complete BKP#2, Bob. At this time even BKP doesn't know for sure. They have several options to consider and will not finalize their design until they have completed their formation evaluation, determined the pay intervals, the relative reserve and productivity estimates, the pressure differentials, the reservoir fluids, the amount of overhole, etc.. That will be some time down the road yet.
BTW, I do not share the view that only the lower Carneros interval will be completed at BKP#2. Perhaps that will be the case, but I think it is premature to make that call. I personally believe that, if they can (constrained by good engineering practice) they will commingle the upper and lower Carneros. JMHOBWDIK.
Your completion scenario is certainly feasible, Bob. (I assume by "smaller annulus" you mean production tubing??). This in fact is how BKP completed ELH#1R .... with their production packer landed above the lowest casing string.
While on the subject of the BKP#2 completion I'll volunteer a few other comments. First, notwithstanding that BKP#2 will AOF at much more than 100 MMCF/d, I will be very surprised if the JV produce it at more than 30-40 MMCF/d. Second, BKP#2 will also produce water notwithstanding that it is completed near the top of the ELH structure. Third, BKP#2 will delineate very substantial incremental reserves ... in the order of 400-500 BCF (Not too bad for a ~$15MM expenditure, hey). Fourth, this well will make the JV a ton of money !!!! Again, JMHOBWDIK.
Have you "migrated" yet ?? <gg>
