Not quite what you were asking, but I thought this was interesting proof of the wealth effect: <<< ISI's Ed Hyman has come upon a striking correlation between swings in stocks and retail sales. Since 1996, he says, there have been 14 swings in the stock market. Each has been echoed in retail sales figures. Previously, there was no such correlation. >>> Tom
