Keith ---Good Morning ---Greenspan is fighting a tight labor market and oil prices . The only way to cool off the labor market is to slow the economy down thus putting people out of work . He is using the same logic with oil prices by slowing the economy he hopes to dropped oil prices . This will only work if he puts us in a recession which he is very close to doing .
The real problem with this scenario is that over the last decade we having been fighting inflation using the following formula ( CPI - Productivity = Real Inflation ) . By killing the technology market he has lost the productivity edge which has been such a strong counterbalance to inflation . Watch for the productivity numbers next week ---if they are low the market will be heading south . The only way left to control inflation if productivity is down is to raise interest rates which will make things worse . He has put himself in a very tight box . He has no real control over oil prices - OPEC can just tightening the spigot to keep prices the same unless we have a global recession .

BEST WISHES
