Front page news from Lancaster New Era dated Nov 30th, 2000 A local man named Chuck Gaston while working for IBM in 1972 invented a device to completely punch out chads. IBM never filed because a similar invention was already patented Gaston said and I quote "it is regrettable that two of the most despised segments of society, lawyers and politicians, will ultimately decide the election".
