WASHINGTON, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Austrian Finance Minister Karl-Heinz Grasser said on Friday that the beleaguered euro currency, which has staged a recovery in recent days, has strong upside potential and could even surge back to parity with the U.S. dollar.

"Markets now should know that euroland members are strongly convinced that the euro has a high potential to increase," he told a media briefing in Washington.
