Justices to Bush campaign: Is this a federal question?
With the race for the White House in the balance, attorneys for George W. Bush and Al Gore pleaded their case in the high-columned solemnity of the Supreme Court this morning, and several justices questioned whether they should intervene in Florida's contested election. Justices Stephen Breyer, Antonin Scalia, Sandra Day O'Connor and David Souter, as well as Chief Justice William Rehnquist all questioned why the high court should get involved in a struggle over a statewide election in Florida. Listen to streaming audio of hearing soon on CNN.com.

DEVELOPING STORY

Civil rights leader the Rev. Jesse Jackson, along with members of the NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus, planned to meet today with U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, to request a Justice Department investigation into what Jackson called "corrupt practices" in Florida that allegedly helped deny votes to minority people in the state.
