Hi Bonnie,

I'm new to index trading, so there way be better ways to trade the Dow than this, but here's how I do it: I trade DJX(a/k/a the Dow Jones Index) calls and puts. I'll link you to the Dreyfus options chain to the DJX, but you'll have to refresh it when you want to place a trade:

edreyfus.com

Here's the put chain. The DJX is currently at about 104. It's Friday, so at this point unless I expect a BIG move on Monday (to the downside) I'd be looking at the January options. The Jan 104's (DJVMZ) have seen a fair amount of volume today, but when I look closely, I see the highest open interest on the Jan 100's (DJVMV), bidding at $1 13/16.
That's probably where I'd look to buy. By doing so you're saying "I'm willing to place my money on the possibility that the Dow Index will be below 100 by the third Friday in January."

Actually, this looks like a very nice trade, Bonnie!
