You are right. Sorry that I was unclear. I was trying to understand about the great consciousness had (or not) as content specifically in the context of "buddhist doctrine" (an oxymoron?). I also can imagine all sorts of alternate scenarios.

But you bring up a good point...
If the nature of GC is truly unknowable, and probably irrelevant, why do we bother talking about it at all?
