quantum level fluctuations

This is very interesting. I had read of this theory before by Sir John C Eccles, which posits some kind of quantum level amplifier at the synapses in your brain to allow a "soul" to control your brain, and thus your body. I had dismissed it as a modern-day version of Descartes pineal gland, used in an attempt to put the ghost back in the machine.

I had never thought before of it as something adaptive to life in some sense. This seems to smack of group selection, or "selection-for-the-greater-good", which doesn't exist according to most contemporary scientists. I would love to hear more about this theory, if you want to elaborate. Specifically, where is the germ-line, and what is showing the traits of fecundity and fidelity.
