Because it is fun to think about?
I saw the best movie.
I think you will like it. It is called "After Life" and it is by the director of Maborosi. Now Maborosi is one of the most beautiful movies ever filmed, but possibly also one of the most boring. It was with trepidation that I rented "After Life". But it was wonderful! Moving, profound, and it made me really, really think about moments of life, each one, how many and yet how few they are.

Please rent it. And let me know what you think.

In the movie the dead have 7 days to chose a memory to relive throughout eternity. They are helped by bureaucrats (whom, you find out, are the people who were not able to chose their memory). The memory is recreated in the studios of this waystation, and then, when it is viewed, the dead person disappears, moving on to wherever it is they go to be with their memory forever. I think you can imagine how tender and moving this could be. And it is presented in such a low key way it never gets maudlin.
