I agree with your point. AMAT has now dropped
about 65% from it's high.


This could be part of the problem. The high price for AMAT was $115.00 per share. But this was a one day event. Look a a one year chart of AMAT. The stock spent most of the year between 52 and 80. The high points and the low points for the year could be viewed as aberrations.

This is not to say that AMAT will not trade higher than $82.00 or lower than it is right now. Over a period of time all stocks revert to some kind of norm.
