I think it's a little more complicated than that. First of all, your boy was veep, not prexy, and had little to do with the events of the last 8 years.
But regarding that prexy: the Republican congress deserves more than a little credit here. They insisted on a balanced budget against strong Demo opposition and got it. The result has been that, instead of constantly issuing bonds, the Federal gov't has actually been retiring them. This has led to lower interest rates which had A LOT to do with this long bull market.
Your boy very much looks like an old tax-and-spend (or, worse, don't-tax-but-spend-anyway) liberal. Bye bye boom.

Oh, and you didn't answer the question: other than being a registered Democrat, are you associated with the Democratic Party?

And just to make things equal: I am a registered Republican and vote Republican (mostly). Other than that I have no association with the Republican Party.
