there was little indication that you were not the author of the material. There's a word for that isn't there.
Don't take up my time with gratuitous insults, PLEASE. I said this:
Perhaps this from Roedy Green will help you to understand the intention here and the perspective required
There follows several paragraphs beginning with "Introduction", and continuing with section heading titles throughout--leaving it only too obvious that an essay from Roedy Green is being presented.
I know that you would never play dumb, so please accept my deep regret that you confused Roedy Green's essay with mine, even though you never once saw the word "whore" in it.
How was I to know that somehow, God had not softened your heart towards him
You ought to know the routine. Have you seen the St. Lawrence turn into blood? Frogs crawling through your studio and jumping in your clay? Everybody around you scratching lice off their head?
Sorry, God is the one that needs to have some heart softening. He killed a lot of innocent people just to show off; And He always sided with one grimy bunch of miscreants over the other side. I am sure glad that we don't judge people on the basis of their name or race or the field colors of their rags--don't you? We would run out of rope and trees.
Humans are inescapably moral because we have been created in the image of this God
When will you get it, Greg? If we derive our morality from the Judeo/Christian God, then how come we don't slaughter indiscriminately? How come we have a civilized sense of justice, based on individual responsibility, rather than the irrelevant actions of someone in our family or tribe? How come we use medicine and caring professionals to heal and comfort each other rather than using witchcraft with dead birds and dabbing blood on our ears and thumbs and toes?
I try very hard to understand what informs your opinions and statements. But when you state that OUR ethics reflect the ethics of God, well...what am I to think? I don't see a lot of that behaviour left in Western Society. Where do you see that kind of behaviour being practiced in Western culture? I am not talking about an isolated example of a rapist or serial killer. That wouldn't make your point. I am talking about an example of a pattern that the greater society might represent. I do not think your point can be carried in this country. Perhaps in some ancient culture where Religion is the sole authority and controls all the weapons of death and destruction.
You could counter that our prisons are filled with killers and thieves and perverts and psychopaths, but you would have to concede that these are deviant to our cultural norms, and do not reflect the normative moral standards of our people. Respectfully, your attempt to show a corollary between Jehovah and modern human beings, does not appear to have any evidentiary basis.
Humans are inescapably moral
Would you make up your mind? I thought you said they were inescapably evil, but that they would be forgiven because of a sacrifice??? |
