Development has been rapid in this century, and there is nothing wrong with taking stock and correcting faulty ways. Interestingly, though, poor, underdeveloped countries have more of a problem with potable drinking water than we do. Our technology has many benefits, including the purification of drinking water and the efficient disposal of wastes. You are not only harking back to a time of primitive development, but one of extremely low population density. Since I know you are not anti- human, I have to point out that only the developed world allows the mass of people to live in relative comfort. Anyway, I do not argue against conservation and reasonable pollution controls, only against hostility to civilization itself.......
