Lapdog, PartyTime: in my opinion...the one act that cost Al Gore this election was the FL Supreme Court delaying the certification of ballots. I am sure they were well-meaning and trying to "do the right thing", but is is their action that allowed too little time for an appropriate contest to occur. This is a fact.

I am a Bush voter, because he was less pathetic than Gore; so you could say that I don't have a dog in this fight. I look at the situation objectively and realize that the delay in certification cost Mr Gore the election. I do believe that more people in Florida wanted to vote for Gore (and probably did vote for him), but he will never have enough time to prove it. If he'd had the extra week (roughly) for the contest, I believe that he would be the next President.

Crazy, huh?

It is this type of real-life situation that demonstrates why seven judges should not be allowed to tamper with such a low-level operation issue as defining how much time canvassing committees should have prior to certification. It was ridiculous for them to assume that they could craft a better process than the legislature, which has been dealing with elections (and contests to them) for many, many years. I say, shame on the Florida Supreme Court for their arrogance!
