How am I to know or discern which one comes from God/Good unless I already have that innate sense of goodness that I was striving for in the first place?

It is much easier to assume most are wrong and that your personal relationship with a purported deity is a personal voyage and not something to be found in the scribblings of an ancient nomadic people hovering in a remote corner of the world.

I refuse to use the word God except as a shorthand notation for something that has about 27 different footnotes. Gods of religion seem like man-made constructs. That is pretty obvious. God walking through the Garden of Eden has to call out to Adam? What's that about?! The deity I'm imagining wouldn't have to do that. And it certainly wouldn't be corporeal or have to resort to silly parlor tricks. Or want you to reject knowledge or wisdom.

That notion of a Western Jehovah just doesn't make sense. There is not one iota of evidence that any work of man (by definition, written text) is holier than any other. They might all be holy, but more likely, none are holy. Maybe holy people can do something with them, but I don't think a book can be holy. The only real truth can from within or at least be referenced within (IMO). If it comes from anywhere else, you are evading responsibility for your "moral compass" and it is the thing or people outside of you responsible for the believing and the morality of your acts. Again, not logical.
