The time to short is either past or soon to be past. If you are worried sit on cash or buy options that appreciate if the market goes lower. The time to short would have been last year at this time, or this past March. Shorting is risky under the best of circumstances. Shorting here would be very risky (if the market goes up your risk is unlimited with a short, buying options would limit your risk to the cost of the option). jmo.
