It's the busiest, dirtiest, sensory overload, action at all hours, sickest city I have ever loved. Oh the vegetable market on the water, and the stench of trhe fish, and the little birds you buy and let go, and the monks in their saffron robes, and the Buddhas everwhere, and the shopping, and riding in a tuktuk with the warm night air in your face, and the people wave and smile and stare because of your strange round eyes and long nose. The temples and the elephants, and the cobra shows, and the FOOD! I am the only person I know who gained weight in Thailand. Probably because I am resistant to the trots having lived so many years in the 3rd world. I got my eyebrows tattooed in Bangkok, probably where I picked up HepC. I love Bangkok. I love it.
(EDIT: They'll offer you one bowl of opium for $2, or all you can smoke for $5, but if you take the second option you wake up naked in a back alley. Or so I hear) |
