Man did this thread get quiet!!!

Observation:

In searching for an MP3 player in a town with population of 55,000 and retail draw of 250,000, I found one at Sears (RCA Lyra). They were not and are not on display, I had to ask. They had them stuffed in the bottom back of a display cabinet. Then when I asked how much and extra flash card would cost, the salesperson replied "I have to go to the Computer department to check".

My point is that on the retail level there appears to be a lack of training, visability and crossing of product mix.

Today, I went to Radio Shack. Walked around and finally asked the salesperson the same. They had an operative demo at the end of the sales counter. Again the RCA (Lyra). Same Price but they had a working demo. And some thought and training had been put into the demo because they had changed the standard ear phones to a set that had a volume control half way down the cord (doesn't come with the Lyra).
This enabled the customer to play with volume at arms length from the Lyra Display. Good idea.

My point is that sales are not only being limited by production demands but lack of distribution and proper marketing (training) as well. No Best Buys, Costo's in this neighborhood.

FWIW
