Good point. But to me the real beauty of having a GbE link is not so much that anyone will pack it with data consistenty, but that you can burst data at low duty cycle and have a greatly simplified QoS scheme for all but ultra-low-delay apps (which is a good benefit since there is no native QoS for ethernet; the down side is the need for large buffers).

Very true. That's probably a harder obstacle to overcome than any of the technical ones.
