Rick, 800 MHz is plenty fast for your use. I have a 400 MHz and a 600 MHz machine. For spread sheet/word processor/web use I notice little difference between the two. But if speed is fun for you, why not splurge?

The Inspiron 5000e is a good machine, but nothing stands out. I bought at Dell because I could customize it and for the 3 year warranty.
