CHECK YOUR STOCKS FOR INVESTMENT INCOME
The financial engineering of big cap tech stocks in a bear market .
In year 2000, MSFT, INTC, ORCL, and CSCO will take a combined $10 BILLION in investment income. If Fiscal 2001 is an extended bear market, none of this is repeatable without further selling in a depressed market. Year over year comparisons will be difficult with decreasing demand. PEs will contract. Even smaller newer companies have been using market investment profits to accelerate their earnings growth. Suppose the NASDAQ companies sold at 4 times sales then it will be around 600. Don’t say it can not happen. It worked in reverse on the way up.

(A Kahuna thought for the weekend.)
