Hi Annette,
I really can't answer that. I don't follow the news on RMBS. My feeling is that if anything, news is distracting. Its effect is manifested in the chart and technicals. But anything driving a stock one way or another is manifested in the chart and technicals, and I mostly have little interest in what specifically that might be, because I don't think it helps much.
I may look at different things, but in the end this is what I concentrate on. Mostly, I just try my best to make sure I get the stock symbol right. <gggg>
Not trying to be flip. Really, I frequently don't have any idea at all what a company does, and may not even know its name. I've done alot of fundamental analysis, and that forms the basis of my long-term portfolio, but fundamental analysis is time consuming, mostly irrelevant for trading purposes, and can be very misleading IMHO, because it tends to presume something that I don't believe is true: the market is rational, and stock prices move because of logical, rational responses on the part of traders to the sum total of relevant facts.
Instead, I'd say the majority (maybe all) of market events are irrational, emotion-driven, sometimes highly manipulated and always manipulated to some degree, only "explainable" post hoc, and people largely engage in this type of "explanation" out of a misguided attempt to force rational models on something which is anything but rational.
JMVHO, of course................
