Hey Jorj,

I watched the Hopkins-Echols fight in disbelief, mostly at Echols, though I'm not sure that Hopkins' gross rabbit punch in the second round was completely unintentional; there seemed to be an obvious break in the action when it was thrown...much like Echols' blatant punch as the ref tried to break it up in the first round. The body slam, the attitude, and the time he spent trying to talk to the ref put me all the more squarely into Hopkins corner, though I found his fighting a bit lackluster. Seems the Bernie Hopkins I'd seen in his last few bouts was a little more polished, a little sharper than last night.

But overall, "scary" is right. The ref did a good job, for the most part, with a couple of kids pretending to be professional, adult athletes. Now, did I hear, correctly, that Hopkins in planning on calling out the winner of the Trinidad-Vargas fight, and/or moving up a few to go after Roy Jones, Jr.?
