Hi Carl - politics has always been a bloodsport, so while I know less about LBJ, conceiveably he had his fix against his political enemy. FWIW, while I actually admire some of President Nixon's political skills, my beef is the "collateral casualty" There were hapless academics who have lost their jobs and thus their livelihood b/c of Nixon and Tailgun Joe's ambition. And let's not forget those who allowed the late Roy Cohn to wield subtle power up into the 80s just a few years before he allegedly death from AIDS. This is history, so I am not engaging in "beating the corpse" ritual. Rather, I am saying sideshow like Rev Al pales in comparison of the "good old days" and I am weary of the puppetmasters and not the puppet!
best, Bosco
