SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 29, 1997--Alpha Pro Tech
Ltd. (OTC:APTD) announced today that the company has appointed three
new sales and marketing team members.
Larry McDowell has been named regional vice president sales and
marketing for the Midwest region. Stacey Betts joins the company as
the Southwest regional vice president sales and marketing.
Catherine Beagle has been appointed to the position of marketing
communications manager.
"These new appointments round out the sales and marketing team
structure I envisioned when I came on board with Alpha Pro Tech,"
said Michael Scheerer, senior vice president sales and marketing,
who himself recently joined the firm. "These are talented
individuals with outstanding records in industries closely allied
with our own. They will provide the management skills, creativity
and foresight to successfully drive our business to the next level
of growth."
Prior to joining Alpha Pro Tech, McDowell held the position of
director of corporate accounts at Fisher Scientific, a laboratory
products distributor. While with Fisher, McDowell was responsible
for closing several million dollars in business with a number of
prominent Fortune 500 companies. Before Fisher, McDowell held
various sales and marketing positions with Baxter Scientific
Products and Amsco International.
Betts' most recent position before joining Alpha Pro Tech, was
critical environment specialist for VWR Scientific Products, a
distributor of laboratory chemicals, equipment and supplies. In
1996, Betts posted the largest sales dollar gain among the critical
environment sales group.
Betts moved to VWR Scientific from the Critical Environments
Business unit of Baxter Scientific Products Division when VWR
acquired the division from Baxter in September 1995. Betts held a
number of sales management and market research positions while with
the Baxter organization.
"These two additions to our field sales management staff
complete Alpha Pro Tech's expansion of geographic coverage in the
U.S.," said Scheerer. "Our vision for this planned expansion was to
put the personnel assets and management in place that will help us
achieve the fastest and most knowledgeable response to customer
requirements."
Beagle joins Alpha Pro Tech following employment as an account
executive for Lynch Exhibits where she managed the exhibit and
communications requirements for prominent corporations such as FMC,
Wallace Laboratories and others.
Prior to Lynch, Beagle held manager, marketing communications
posts with Pilling Company, a surgical instrument manufacturer, and
GNB Industrial Battery, a power supply manufacturer.
"Cathy's marcomm experience fits perfectly with our plans to
heighten the visibility and recognition of Alpha Pro Tech among our
target markets using all the communications tools at our disposal,"
Scheerer said.
Alpha Pro Tech develops, manufactures and markets innovative
disposable and limited-use protective apparel products for the
medical, dental, industrial, clean room and food service markets.
The company has manufacturing facilities in Salt Lake City;
Nogales, Ariz.; Janesville, Wis.; Valdosta, Ga.; and Benjamin Hill
and Nogales, Mexico.
