H.J. this could really be a big deal,I hear pundits say that "stalemate" would be good for the market and maybe it would be; but we may not get "stalemate" but rather a battle royal between the parties with the economy held hostage and the Dems feeling that they are preventing a greater evil by giving the Bush administration any assistance. People on the right have no idea the depth of hostility that is felt by some on the left; let me try to explain it: Jhn Kennedy, RFK and MLK were murdered and by a "right wing cabal". THis is an article of faith on the left and is supported by the fact that very similar assinations (though more transparent) have occured in many other places ie. Israel, Chile, the Philippines, India, Iran, ect. always by some "right wing nut" or a revealed conspiracy from the right. The Nixonian disaster followed and finally Carter had a fairly sucessful term, at least till the very end when oil shock and inflation (regarded on the left as a product of the Nixonian Disaster, I know a little about this from the "inside" as a distant cousin of mine was married to one of Carters sons') then came: The October Suprise. Now this is likewise an "article of faith" on the left. Several scholarly books were written about it by Gary Sick and othere. Now whether Bill Casey was really in that hotel room in Madrid meeting with the Iranians (and there is plenty of evidence that he was and if so was guilty of high treason for which he should have gotten the death penalty, not the directorship of the CIA) no doubt the Repubs used all that to "steal" the election. And there is the money advantage the Repubs have over the Dems; the Repubs have a higher net worth base of support (mainly due to the tax issues) which is nothing new, but there has arisen among Dems the notion that the Repubs have managed to unfairly "leverage" this advantage in recent years. One is the example of local campaigs in Dem districts being paid for from afar; here in GA the main examples are the Gingrich and Bob Barr elections, both regarded as "unwelcome carpetbaggers" by some. In FLA Jeb Bush is regarded by some in this light. Then there is media; I know it is a commonly expressed belief on the right that the major media is liberal and maybe there is some truth to that; but I don't think it is the result of any planning or conspiracy. But on the left there is no comparison to the Fox/Clear Channel/Limbaugh network. This is all bought and paid for from afar by Rupert Murdoch (whose flagship paper, the Australian is pro-Gore!). And the main right wing daily paper, The Washington Times, is owned by the Korean Moonies (who are in the white slavery biz in Asia and have been banned almost everywhere over there). And there is powerful networking among these elements; a few days ago I was listening to a right wing radio host proclaiming that if Lieberman (the Jew) was elected that the "Seventh Seal" would be opened in Jerusalem and "the anti-christ" Al Gore would fly there to lead the "new world order" and then he put the prophetess "Sister Sasha" to confirm all this. Then he repeated some views I heard earlier on Limbaugh and then of all things, gave a stock market update! What an unholy mixing of the worst of the 19th and 21st centuries! Now this was in Alabama but this sort of thing is common all over and there are ignorant people out there, mostly in these rural Bush districts who believe this sort of thing. The Dems realise there is nothing comparable on their side and that the are not now or have they ever been guilty of such and they are MAD!
They think the election was "stolen" as otheres in the past have been and I think they will stalemate and oppose any and everything that Bush tries to do. So if the bulls hope for any "help" from politics any time soon to boost the markets I can only say this: Too bad, this is the wrong century!!!! WSR |
