Well, I can't speak for "the majority of the country" TigerPaw. As far as the solution to my objections, I'll vote in two years for the candidate that supports them. In the meantime, I'm waiting to see what the United States Supreme Court has to say.
The media, as expected, focused mainly on what Ruth had to say in the hearing, but I expect the Court to make a ruling that is both equitable and final. I think I know what they are going to say, but since I don't want to get into a guessing game, I won't argue about that.
I knew one minute after Al challenged the election that it would go to the U.S. Supreme Court. There will be some good that comes out of this. Unfortunately for Al, I don't think he will be a part of any future national election. I think he has tarnished the Democratic Party, and that's too bad. You don't see it, but Al has destroyed his future in politics.
What saddens me most is the divisive nature of the entire episode. It seems to me that this whole event has been a calculated attempt to polarize the general public into two factions that want to tear each other to pieces.
I've seen it before. IMHO, the only good things about this are that it is happening in the United States and nobody has died yet, and the general public will now demand a higher level of ethical behavior regarding national elections. |
