Yes, I understand why you'd be happy to wirelessly surf at 750Kbps; it would indeed be satisfactory for quite a few years. However, that is not the problem. The bandwidth you refer to is that carrying the HTML datastream from the source website. The bandwidth needed between the phone and the display device is for the bitstream for the CPU to light up all those megapixels. Sadly, this is much higher than that, orders of magnitude higher for highcolor with even 640x480 resolution. Remember, each pixel needs to be refreshed more than 60 times per second to keep from flickering.

For text only, with only a 320 x 240 resolution, 2 color for B&W and a mere 30 refreshes per second you're still talking 4+ Mbps.

Yes, I have seen some too, but they are big, heavy, and of low quality. Mfgs have a long way to go before very many people will be willing to pay for them, let alone use them in a public place. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of this idea, and think that it is the way it will work out over time. I'm just more conservative than you on when useable devices will hit the market. I hope you are the one who turns out to be right.
