SuperSOES will certainly alter the landscape. None of us can say with certainly how it will play out, but I have serious concerns about the impact of essentially eliminating order size restrictions, and opening up the fully automated system originally intended to give small investors/traders direct access to the market (the old SOES) to the big money players. Even Gene the MM is worried about the impact on smaller MM firms.

Even so, as far as I know none of the ECNs have signed up to be incorporated into the SuperSOES routing scheme, which means effective ECN access may become increasingly important. Brokers that provide the best ECN connections are likely to be the best place for traders of Nasdaq securities. So I guess I'm not ready to say it won't matter when SuperSOES arrives. It might become even more important. Only time will tell.

I guess it's an old Chinese proverb (curse?) I heard somewhere along the line, "May you live in interesting times." We certainly are living in those times now. I have no doubt you will adapt to the changes, but there may be a lot of people still struggling to master the old ways and a bit bloodied by this extended market downtrend who may get eaten up during this transition. I for one intend to be very cautious until we get to really understand the impact of these changes.
