After speaking with Jordon Brisk of Investor Relations I have the impression that WRS is already incorporated into the leading storage systems (NTAP and EMC) at the I/O level. Because storage and bandwidth go together, WIND should gain from the strong anticipated growth of the $31 billion storage market. The Tornado for Managed Switches 2.0 announcement strengthens the deal:

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 2000--Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for smart devices in the Internet age, today announced general availability of Tornado® for Intelligent I/O 2.0, an integrated software development environment for input/output (I/O) processors.

This new version of the software includes TCP/IP support, which means developers can now build sophisticated networking into their I/O devices. A fully integrated software development platform, Tornado for Intelligent I/O is used by developers to create high performance I/O applications that are targeted towards emerging areas such as network attached storage (NAS), storage area networks (SANs), IP storage and web accelerators.
