Re: Trinidad vs. Vargas

My prediction was Vargas by KO in the 11th, vs the actual, Trinidad by KO in the 12th.

I was a little disappointed overall. Not much, just a little. I say this because, while the first round absolutely shocked me, afterwards it was clear to me that Vargas winning the fight by KO, let alone by points, was not only well within the realm of possibility, but was within his grasp at least once during the fight.

I have no idea why he stood, flatfooted, in front of Trinidad like he did, or why he didn't press the attack more than he did, especially because he connected well and could land most punches at will. I also think that almost anyone else - including Delahoya - wouldn't have withstood the repeated blows which El Feroz did until he went down in the 12th. I wish, for his sake, that he could have survived the last round to lose the decision.

But, there's no disputing it: Trinidad fought well, and has a lot of power. I did note that he showed caution that betrayed his pre-fight bluster. Nonetheless, it's very hard, at this point, for me to assess how he'd do versus Mosely.

We'll see -
