Regarding warnings, I wonder if earnings estimates have not come down so far in the last 3 months, that a warning will not be necessary for many companies.

Companies that warned last Q, have warned for next Q in advance. Same sector or industry, many cos. have seen estimates reduced. With Reg FD, many cos are giving mid-quarter guidance as well.

Look at Intel.
Warned in Sept for lower revs, not earnings.
Estimates were lowered, then they beat the original estimate. Estimates lowered just Friday by CSFB and on INCTC & all semi - equips.
