[8x8 ...]

Dug,

<<Forgive my ignorance but I don't see where 8x8 needs an Amati modem w/ the
videophone. Is Amati's modem part of the pacakge? Can anyone explain?>>

I'm sure you don't need Amati's modem to have the 8x8 product function.
However, the picture quality (frames per second) would possibly improve
with enhanced speed.

How 8x8 ties into WEBTV....who know's. I believe there a plenty of
CU-C me type devices for less money which work over the internet that
are cheaper than $500.

I think the possible integration of ADSL/8x8/Web TV would be
interesting.
- high speed TV/Teleconferencing
- internet telephony
- obviously, high speed internet access
- excellent delivery platform for "Gates Content"

Just ideas...it's nice to dream. Right now, the dream seems expensive
for the mass market. If you simultabneously rolled out internet
telephony you could certainly cost justify such a purchase. This is
what I think GTE secretly wants to do in "everybody else's backyard".
However it could cause an irreversible price war that they probably
don't want to start.

Just some thoughts,

Bob
