Based upon the information/knowledge that I have identified, my best "guess" is that the "$50 rebate" is not to address a lack of PDA sales. The rebate is intended to entice additional PDA sales to combat MSFT's gain in PDA market share. Conference calls like to mention the "market share" issue.

A key factor to keep in mind is what market share data is being discussed. Is the data based upon "average selling price" or on "actual units sold"? C/E products are, currently, higher priced than Palm O/S products.

The Palm IIIC is selling miserably, however, by all accounts.

The M100 is doing better than anticipated.

Interesting info on new Palm products, but nothing that isn't already available on the C/E side.
