As it is for CDMA2000 their current cost structure is
relatively high., Ericsson, Motorola, etc use their
chips now because QCT defined the CDMA2000 standard and
with their jump on them it was not worth the effort.
Nokia has held off because of cost but still lags QCT in integration. In the case of WCDMA QCT does not lead
the standard. In fact they have been delayed by the clever
"spec revisions" being carried out by Motorola, Ericsson etc.

QCT will still get whatever royalties that they are due but
unless SPINCO has a lower priced kick-ass chip that is ahead of others they will be hard pressed to convince the big boys (MOT, NOK ,ERICY)to also throw in the towel on their own WCDMA
which is what all of their futures rely upon.

As for Intel, they want toown the wireless world as well.
