<<Maybe I show keep working on (and try to promote) my own mining index. If you recall, I put something together about six months ago, but have not updated it.>>
Bob, No matter how much we here like & respect you, should we believe your - or even our - Index might ever gain broad enough acceptance by the investing "powers that be" for it to be widely addressed, quoted in the financial media, & act as an AMEX trading vehicle as do SPY's, MDY's, SOX......?
Questions: 1. Should it be a "Precious Metals Index" or a "Precious Metals Producers Index"? If so, should a bullion component be included?(set number of OZ of gold & 100 X OZ of silver) with-in the index?
2. Should it be a "Precious Metals Producers" index or a "Gold & Silver Producers Index"? Should Platinum Group producers be included? a)if so,then should those bullions also be included?
Way off base on inclusion - but only in one manner of thought:
3. Include DeBeers?
4. We have brought up the issue because of inclusion of a copper producer in the existing XAU. At what point of "non-percious metals" production should a producer be EXCLUDED? Should it be based on a number of total tonnes / OZ produced, or percentage of tonnes produced, or percentage of $ produced?
5. Moth-balled production or exploration play inclusion? SIL - Due to price don't think they produce ANYTHING currently, all moth-balled. These are not "suggestions" or attempts to poo-poo your actions, only questions. I would think it GREAT if we here(any of us) could have some level of impact on the next new better(perfect?) "Precious Metals Index" traded by "Wall Street"! |
