Hi CMB,

You throw all kind of technobabble
Funny, it made perfect sense to me. <g>

Again, what is your view of the relative future roles and importance of Sonet v. GbE? I am genuinely trying to get a handle on this. If you don't have a view, that's fine. But my last post should indicate to you that we can take this discussion beyond softball and get a little more speed on the ball here. And the question of how speed is introduced to the network is crucial to making investment decisions, is it not? There are a number of forks in the telecom road, and some of them will be dead ends. Care to comment about the future rolls of WDM/IP v. Sonet v. ATM v. Frame Relay v. GbE v. FC? We can limit the discussion to the metro and access layers. I already have a clear answer in mind on long haul. (Hint: Sonet will play no role there.)

I'll stop there. I don't want to confuse things with the full panoply of possibilities. <g>

Best, Ray :)
