I beg to disagree, and I fail to see that that map proves your point. But let's work some numbers. Let's say that the population of the US is 217,500,000- -fairly close. The number is picked so that each 500,000 people gets 1 representative in House of Representatives.

Now let's take a state (call it State A) with 1 million population. It gets 4 electoral votes, so it effectively has 1 electoral vote per 250,000 people.

And now let's say California had a population of 26 million- -fairly close. It would have 54 electoral votes (Recognize that number?) It has 1 electoral vote per 481,000 people.

So the people of State A are over-represented by 92% in the electoral college compared to a Californian.

And that's precisely why the electoral college was set up. The small states (Delaware, Rhode Island, etc.) were afraid of having no effective voice in the national government. This was one of the bones they were given to get them to join the Union.

And the fact that the ec favors the small states is also the reason why it has endured in the face of hundreds of attempts to abolish it. There are lots of states with small populations; there are a small number with large populations. Voting on constitutional amedments is done by STATES and you need 3/4 approval. Ain't gonna happen.
