That number is of no consequence as the election is only within your state or anothers. Wherever, the vote is cast, that is as far as it goes. The state as part of the collective union then applies it's vote of the majority of citizens in the form of a prescribed number of electors.

If the elector balance is not correct as represented by population due to census faults then a audit of the census is needed. Adjustments to the electors and congressional seats may be altered.

The only argument one could likely make is that the number of Senate seats are askew to population. However, the even number of Senate seats assures states rights and a degree of autonomy necessary to preserve the individual rights and customs of a minority state. Otherwise California, New York and Texas could simply write laws until they annex the country.

Totally centralized government breeds distance, distrust and discord. Out of site...out of mind..
