Decimals are coming, but not quickly enough for Arthur Levitt. The chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission apparently bashed some heads last week-that is, the heads of the nation's options exchanges. He chastised leaders of the options industry for what he deemed their failure to position quickly enough to trade entirely in penny increments and not resolving the quote-traffic problem.

I for one cannot wait. The recent activity in the options pits has caused me to open up yet more accounts. So far, I must say Wall Street Access seems like the best, but it also seems to depend on the individual stock and time you are trying to make the trade. Nothing pisses me off more than to put in a limit order either over the bid or under the ask and not have it show up. What's even more frustrating is to see other orders go through under my bid or over my ask. That just confirms my broker and/or the options boys are screwing me.
