The pace tonight is about 54,000 items per hour, about 50% higher than this time last week. Later this week they'll hit one million/day. I'm now predicting we'll see 36 million by Dec. 21st, and 48-50 million for the quarter.

48 million x $25 = $1.2 billion

If memory serves, I believe that the average item last year was around $20, and they did 20 million items during the holiday period (Nov 2 - Dec 21st). The average selling price has surely increase this year because of the move toward higher end items (e.g. TV sets). Also, last year gift wrapping was free...this year it's $3 extra per item.

There's no doubt that it is going to be a blowout revenue quarter, despite a horrid environment. Earnings may be another story, but I suspect that it will also be an upside surprise.

One more tidbit...Bezos has predicted 25 million items during the period of the delightometer. He also predicted $1 billion in revenue...if you increase both of those numbers by 36%: $1.36 billion by that view.
