Rick!
I'm so sorry for your problems, but I think you misread the directions and went to Passwords instead of Networks!
-Go to START to CONTROL PANEL to NETWORK -Select the CONFIGURATION tab. -Highlight "Client for Microsoft Networks" -Click on "Properties" -Go to "Network Logon Options" -Select "Quick Logon" -Click OK -Go to the "Primary Network Logon" box, -Make sure "Windows Logon" is selected. (If you get a message telling you that you're installing an older version, do you want to go ahead -- say YES!)
-Restart your computer. -IF the log-on window comes up (it didn't on mine): -Enter a name, (any name it doesn't matter), -Leave the password blank, and hit return. -When it asks you to confirm that blank password, hit return again. -After that, you should never see the log-on screen again.
Now you see why I need very explicit baby steps when I deal with my computer. I still haven't recovered after trying to defrag my hard drive last year. It stalled in the middle of the operation, so I just hit "ALT, CONTROL, DELETE!" Yep, it deleted everything! <ARGHHHHHHH> I do nothing now without very explicit instructions! <g>
Sure hope everything is back to normal on your system!
